
ALMOST a quarter of a million euro has been allocated to harbour projects and coastal development programmes in West Cork. HARBOURS across West Cork are set to benefit from more than €2,5 million in funding announced by the Department of Transport. The €2,632,000 in funding which is being made available for the maintenance and upgrade of a number of Cork harbours, as part of the agreement which sees the ownership of such transferred to local authorities. A FISHERMAN has died after sustaining serious injuries aboard a fishing trawler some 25 miles off the Old Head Of Kinsale in West Cork. The alarm was raised at around 6.30pm last Thursday night when the Dunmore East-based 40ft trawler Liberty requested assistance for a seriously injured crew member.
