Centre for learning and healing to be established in West Cork

GILL Riordan, a psychotherapist and coach from Glandore, gathered a group of like minded people together to discuss  the creation of a centre for learning and healing in West Cork.

 

On September 25th, 18 people attended the meeting in the Celtic Ross Hotel.

Innovative new mental health project pilot scheme in Beara

MAD Pride Ireland has announced details of an innovative new mental health pilot project to run across the Beara Peninsula in conjunction with the HSE.

 

The project titled DIY Mental Health will engage local communities in a positive approach to normalising the conversation around mental wellbeing.

Get the Vaccine – Not the Flu, get vaccinated against influenza as the flu season is now here

THE HSE is urging people in at-risk groups to get vaccinated against influenza, as the flu season is now here.

Flu can be a very serious illness, especially for people who are older or who have a long-term illness.

 

Uptake figures for HSE South show that 55.1% of people aged 65 and over who hold a medical card or GP visit card received the flu vaccine during the 2011-2012 flu season. more »

Free diabetes education programme for West Cork

A SERIES of free education programmes for people with diabetes are planned for West Cork during 2012.

The award winning X-PERT programme is being organised by HSE community dieticians Bernie Dennehy and Melissa Byrne, in conjunction with local GPs. more »
