A WORKSHOP in Kinsale this week seeks to explore and dispel the unhealthy effects of anxiety.
Mind sciences lecturer, Rod Briggs returns to west Cork to shed light on the relationship between lying, worrying, self-sabotage and failure.
‘Do it Yourself – Self-Help on the Shelf’ is a new initiative which provides a list of recommended books (available to borrow from Bandon library) and websites to help people deal with common problems such as anger management and bereavement.
The book and website lists have been developed by HSE clinical psychologists based in Bandon, in collaboration with library staff from Bandon and Cork.
BUMPS to Tots is an independent breastfeeding support group in Clonakilty set up in 2005 and run by mothers who have breastfed their own children.
The group offers mother to mother support with the aim of empowering women to breastfeed for as long as they would like to.
There is an excellent library with books on many topics such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weaning, introducing solids, and parenting and also lots of information leaflets for mothers. more »
A FREE pre-diabetes check, blood pressure check, and fitness test are available to members of the public at the Bantry Primary Care Information evening, which will be held next Tuesday, February 19th, from 5pm to 8pm in the Primary Care Centre, The Quays, Bantry (follow the signs outside the Maritime Hotel).

COUNTY Mayor, Cllr Barbara Murray recently welcomed a large group to County Hall for the Launch of MentailTY (Suicide Aware Transition Year Seminars).
The seminars will take place on February 7th and 8th at County Hall and will be attended by transition year students from around the County organised in association with school guidance counsellors.
