O’Mahony Farrelly O’Callaghan solicitors are in practice in Bantry and Castletownbere since 1956 originally under the title of Frank O’Mahony Solicitor.

The current senior partners are Rory O’Callaghan and Pat Farrelly.

The client base covers all of West Cork with particular concentration in the greater Bantry, Sheep’s Head and Beara area.

They provide a full-time service, including out of office hours, to the people of West Cork and many generations of the same families have entrusted their legal work to them.

They currently have three full-time solicitors who are all honours graduates.

They also have very experienced legal executives, and if required the consultancy services of the founding member of the firm, Mr Frank O’Mahony.

Mr O’Mahony also provides notary pubic services by appointment at their office.

Expertise

The latest addition to the firm is a first-class honours graduate who finished first in his class at University College Cork and the Law Society, Dan Leahy.

The firm has expertise in all areas of litigation and were the principal solicitors acting in the biggest personal injuries action in the history of the state when they represented the French families arising out of the Betelgeuse disaster on Whiddy Island in 1979.

They have also represented clients in a number of large medical negligence cases.

Pat Farrelly is an accredited CEDR mediator and is also admitted to the roll of solicitors in the UK.

The firm have operated for 40 years an office in The Square, Castletownbere which is open for business every Friday under the auspices of Mr Laurence O’Daly.

Both Mr O’Callaghan and Mr Farrelly are members of the Free Legal Aid Panel and are available to attend garda stations when called on to do so.

The firm has vast experience in acting for the farming community.

They also have vast experience in property matters, in all forms of conveyancing and have very competitive rates in that regard with special arrangements available for first time buyers.
