THE West Bar and Restaurant from Westport, Co. Mayo were crowned national champions at the second annual National Chowder Cook-Off which took place on the grounds of Acton’s Hotel, Kinsale on Sunday.
John McGrath and Frank Walsh from The West were presented with their award by Fishy Fishy’s Martin Shanahan after their chowder was voted the best by members of the public.

FOLLOWING the great success of last year’s inaugural National Chowder Cook-Off; Kinsale hoists the second annual event this year on Sunday, May 27th in a bid to find Ireland’s top chowder chef.
MONDAY morning was hectic at Caherbeg Free Range Pork in Rosscarbery as during production, everything was halted so that Willie Allshire could be inducted into the Fraternity, La Commanderie des Fins Goustiers du Duchy d’Alencon.

THE Managing Director of the Clonakilty Blackpudding Company, Colette Twomey has been knighted by the Commanderie de Fins Goustiers du Duche d’Alencon at a special ceremony in Clonakilty.
The award was given in recognition of the company’s outstanding contribution to food.
