GARDAÍ in Glengarriff are investigating a two-vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Hollyhill, Dromgarriff, Glengarriff, at approximately 7.30pm last Thursday night.
The 69-year-old female driver and the sole occupant of one of the vehicles, a car, was fatally injured in the accident.
The woman, named locally as Rosemary Polglase was originally from the UK but had been living in the Ballydehob area for a number of years.
It is understood she was on her way home after visiting friends nearby.
The 50-year-old male driver of the other vehicle, a van, sustained only minor injuries in the collision.
The road was closed for several hours to enable investigations by a Garda forensic team.
