However after the 1988 All-Ireland Finals, a decision to drop both categories from the race order was taken.
In those finals the Galley Flash emerged victorious in both categories and are therefore reining All-Ireland Champions.
Now almost a quarter on a century later these highly competitive races are to be revived
The Galley Flash Rowing Club is pleased to announce its inaugural “Two-Oar Challenge”.
An open invitation has been extended by the club to the rowing community both north and south, to rise to the challenge and enter this unique event.
The competition will take place on Sunday, May 20th at the club’s base in Kilkern Lake, Castlefreke.
The boats to be used in these races will be the One Design Celtic Yawl.
