CORK South West TD Noel Harrington has urged sporting organisations in West Cork to apply to a new €30 million fund for sports capital projects just announced by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring.
“This is the first round of sports capital funding for four years and demonstrates the Government’s commitment to encourage more people to take part in sport,” said Deputy Harrington who added he was delighted the scheme will be open to far more clubs and groups than ever before because of a change in land ownership rules.

Sports bodies do not really need to be urged to apply for funding since most clubs know that it is a privilege to have such opportunities. West Cork sports officials should instead focus more on raising awareness on the requirements that have to be met by clubs and groups in order to qualify for funding.
