THE Eli Lilly pharmaceutical plant at Dunderrow, Kinsale is set for major expansion if planning is granted for a new 22,000 sq m bio-pharma building.
The US giant is already one of West Cork’s biggest employers and has been expanding into the bio-pharmaceutical area for some time.
According to the company, the new three-storey building would be built in anticipation of predicted future demand for bio-pharma drugs.
The Dunderrow site is already one of the company’s main centres for bio-pharma development and manufacture worldwide.
Bio-pharma products are expected to see the fastest growth in sales in the coming years in the pharmaceuticals industry.
