THE Macra na Feirme all-Ireland volleyball final took place in the Watershed sports complex in Kilkenny recently with local team, Callan Macra from Co. Kilkenny, winning the title.
The competition is kindly supported by the National Dairy Council as Macra’s Health and Wellbeing partner.
Three-time All Ireland Champion, Michael Desmond who beat Conor Yendell (Camlough) at the National Stadium Dublin on the 30th March to take gold for Macroom Boxing Club at the National Youth 2 Championships 91kg+.

THE 35th Quality Hotels West Cork Rally took place on the weekend of the 16th & 17th March.
Despite the tough economic conditions 128 cars took to the start in the main field. Daragh O’Riordan who won the event in 2012 was the top seed and his new Ford Fiesta WRC was certainly the centre of attraction among the large crowds that gathered in Clonakilty.

THE Beara Peninsula entered a swim team to the Cork Community Games at Leisure World, Bishopstown recently for the first time.
The children live in excess of 20 miles from the nearest pool, The Water School at Pearson’s Bridge, where they learnt to swim.
WEST Cork darts player Jack O’Hea played a staring role for the Cork Youth Team at the All-Ireland Inter-Counties in Ennis recently where the team played Clare, Louth and Roscommon. [Read more...]

THE Kerry Group Ras Mumhan four-day international cycle race was officially launched in Kenmare recently.
Starting on Good Friday, March 29th and finishing on Easter Monday April 1st, the race will be held on the roads of Cork and Kerry with a prize fund of €6,000.
