The GalleyFlash Rowing Club hosts its fourth Rowathon this Saturday March 23rd.

As with the last three Rowathon the club is running the event in an effort to raise funds not only for itself but for a partner organisation.

This year’s beneficiaries will be the Ardfield-Rathbarry Playground group. Both groups are currently involved in efforts to improve the infrastructure of our rural community, the rowing club providing facilities fit for purpose at its base in Kilkern and the playground group developing a community playground.

Developments like this are what will copper fasten the future of our rural community. In an era where collecting money for any club or cause has become difficult, it is hoped that the local community will give as much as possible to these worthy causes.

The Rowathon is scheduled to start at the rowing clubs base at Kilkern Lake at 8am before moving to Rathbarry at 10am.

In the afternoon the rowers will be in action in Clonakilty and at the Mountain House in Ardfield before the final round up at the traditional finish line at Fishers Cross from 7pm to 8pm.
