LOCAL success story Glenilen Farm are among the 24 finalists in the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition.

The Drimoleague-based family business has been nominated in the emerging category and were featured recently in a special RTÉ programme with other nominees screened on RTÉ 1.

The winners of each category, a special award winner and the overall Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 will be revealed at an awards ceremony in Dublin later this month.

New funding for West Cork food businesses

THE West Cork Development Partnership (WCDP) has announced that funding is now available to support agri-food enterprises in West Cork.

Funding at a rate of 40 per cent and up to a maximum value of €200,000 is available to micro, small and medium enterprises adding value to agri-food products.

On March 6th Environment Minister Phil Hogan announced that €5 million in funding will be provided in 2012/2013 to support agri-food enterprises in rural Ireland.

The WCDP is encouraging businesses with project proposals to get in contact with Development Officer Kevin Santry on 023 883 4035 or by email at kevin@wcdp.ie at their earliest convenience.

Funding for Agri-Food enterprises is vital to West Cork

FINE Gael TD for Cork South West, Noel Harrington has welcomed the announcement by Environment Minister Phil Hogan that €5 million in funding will be provided in 2012/2013 to support the creation and development of agri-food enterprises in rural Ireland.

Based on recent research conducted by the Local Development sector this funding has the potential to create more than 200 jobs directly as well as sustaining a number of jobs currently available in the sector.

Clonakilty Blackpudding is new Cork City FC sponsor

The Clonakilty logo will be on Cork City shirts this season.

ONE of West Cork’s best-known brands, Clonakilty Black Pudding has announced a three-year sponsorship agreement with Cork City FC.

The deal will see the Clon company have its distinctive logo displayed on the new Cork City home and away strips.

The new jerseys will be unveiled in the coming weeks in advance of the 2012 year Airtricity Premier Division where Cork City FC kick off their campaign away to UCD.
