THE West Cork based Rural Animal Welfare Resources group (RAWR) helped launch a new dog fouling initiative in Bantry recently.

 

In attendance at the launch were county mayor Cllr Barbara Murray as well as children from St. Finbarrs Boys’ School and Gaelscoil Bheanntrai who took part in a poster competition for the initiative, Bantry Tidy Towns representatives, Teddy Browne (litter warden); Ciaran Sheehan (Muttmits), Aiden McCarthy Bantry Town Council and members of the RAWR team.

RECENTLY, the Irish Wildlife Trust (IWT) posted a reminder about the closed season for hedgerow cutting in Ireland on its Facebook page.

 

The post went viral within the next few hours, was shared over 1,700 times, and according to official Facebook insight, reached almost 140,000 people.

UP to 100 members of Clonakilty Chamber of Commerce gathered recently for a Flood Information Meeting.

 

The members heard a report from the Chamber’s Flood Committee on progress to date of works carried out by Clonakilty Town Council following the disastrous flooding of the town in June of last year.

Barryroe National School mark National Tree Week

National Tree Week at Barryroe National SchoolTO mark National Tree Week, the forestry section of South Western Services visited Barryroe National School recently.

 

Each child received a three-year-old oak sapling and SWS also planted 10-year-old birch and mountain ash trees at the school – symbolic of the growth of the children, school and natural surroundings.

Clon’s Methodist Church is a Green trailblazer
