THE  Students Of BA Visual Arts Sherkin have organised a fun night out for all at the Eldon Hotel, Skibbereen at 9 pm on March 9th next. 

The BA Visual Arts Course runs on the island and produces quality graduates of many different deciplines every two years

Bere Island collect sixth consecutive Tidy Islands award

THE Bere Island Tidy Towns Committee collected their award for winning the Tidy Islands category in the 2012 Tidy Towns Competition at a ceremony in Killarney recently.

It is the sixth consecutive year that Bere Island has won the award.

Mr Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage & the Gaeltacht presented Bere Island with their award at a ceremony held at The Malton Hotel. [Read more...]

Conferring of BA (Hons) in Visual Art on Sherkin Island

THE Sherkin Island community is preparing for an influx of visitors this coming weekend as the conferring of awards for the Dublin Institute of Technology’s (DIT) BA in Visual Art Graduation ceremony takes place on Saturday 6 October at 2.30pm.  Family and friends of the 18 graduating students will make their way to the island for this special occasion and to celebrate with the students and the island community at Sherkin Island Community Hall, which also serves as the students’ campus on the island.
