Lots happening to support Glandore Church project

glandore-churchCHRIST Church, Kilfaughnabeg, Glandore was consecrated on the 12th September, 1861 and since then has served the local Church of Ireland community.

 

Regular services are held during the summer months of July and August at 10am. However, its future was at risk because of the dangerous condition of the tower. Everyone agreed that it would be a tragedy if this important and beautiful landmark were allowed to fall into ruin.

These include concerns re non-payment of annual leave, entitlement to public holidays as well as concerns about employees having their working conditions or hours of work changed without consultation.

Charity tea party at the Ewe Experience in Glengarriff

THE Ewe Experience in Glengarriff is holding a charity tea party on Saturday June 8th. All the proceeds on the day will go to two Bantry groups, Rehabcare and the National Learning Network.

 

On the same day The Ewe Experience, Ireland’s only interactive sculpture garden, will also be celebrating the anniversary of 20 years in business in West Cork.

 

“We have had a close connection over the years with the two service groups, which now benefit from this year’s charity tea party,” says artist Sheena Wood, co-owner of the well known gardens in Glengarriff.

Launch of Cumasú – The Wellness Bus in West Cork

wellness-busCumasú – affectionately known as ‘The Wellness Bus’, which assists people in the community of West Cork in their recovery outside the parameters of mental health services will be launched on Monday, 27th May 2013 by Ms. Kathleen Lynch, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Mental Health.

 

Cumasú which means “to empower” or “to redeem” is a community based project which is being undertaken by the HSE South’s West Cork Mental Health Services in partnership with the National Learning Network, RehabCare, West Cork Development Partnership and Service User Groups. [Read more...]

C2C 5 Mile Run

C2C 5 Mile Run Breakthrough CancerRunners getting ready for the C2C 5 Mile Run at the GAA grounds in Clondrohid, in aid of Breakthrough Cancer. This will be the 3rd year for the C2C to take place, and so far it has raised nearly €35,000 for Cancer Research.
