TOM and Ross Keogh, of Keogh’s Farm, was joined by latest flavour collaborators Aileen and Michael O’Neill of O’Neill’s Irish Atlantic Sea Salt on the stunning Beara Peninsula recently for the launch of the newest flavour in the Keogh’s range of hand-cooked potato crisps, Keogh’s Irish Atlantic Sea Salt.
With a helping hand from two little Cork fishermen, Luke Neenan (5) and Ollie Neenan (3) they celebrated this lightly salted flavour with ‘just a pinch of salt’ and the unique and exciting partnership of two Irish producers to create the perfectly seasoned summer snack.

THE Castletownbere Development Association Ltd held their AGM on Tuesday, April 30th at 9pm in The Forge, Castletownbere.
Chairperson Michael Downey was unable to attend so Vice Chair Noel Forde conducted the meeting on his behalf, beginning by thanking all those in attendance for their support.
Maureen O’Hara will not return to West Cork

AFTER living in Glengarriff for over 40 years screen legend and icon Maureen O’Hara has said that she will not be returning to Ireland.
Ms O’Hara who starred in countless Hollywood films and is perhaps best known for her role in ‘The Quiet Man’ with John Wayne, dramatically left her home in Glengarriff last year after a legal dispute erupted with her former personal assistant, Carolyn Murphy.
Ms Murphy was given power of attorney over Ms O’Hara’s affairs in 2006. Having met in Glengarriff in 1978, Ms Murphy became Ms O’Hara’s constant companion at public events.
Ms O’Hara is now living in a care centre in Idaho where her family says that she is considering writing a book to outline her reasons for leaving Ireland.
West Cork in the running in Irish Times favourite holiday spot contest

WEST Cork’s Gougane Barra, Beara Peninsula and Kinsale have all made it on to the longlist in The Irish Times competition The Best Place to Holiday in Ireland.
They are among 25 holiday hotspots in the race to be named as Ireland’s best place to holiday.
Coveney extends imported fodder transport scheme

MINISTER for Agriculture Simon Coveney has announced that he has extended the duration of the Imported Fodder Transport Scheme for one week. The scheme will now run until Friday 10th May.
The Minister also today confirmed that maize silage is eligible under the scheme. He said his Department has been working with the industry on this and said that large quantities of maize silage up to 6,000 tons are currently being sourced for early delivery to this country. Minister Coveney commended the Dairy co-ops for their work over the past two weeks.

WITH the National Spring Clean Campaign well underway, volunteers across West Cork are turning their attention from the land to the sea.
“This year, once again, we will be taking our campaign for cleaner beaches to the many bays and beaches in West Cork and once again we have volunteers willing to give of their time and energy to ensure that the environment and our world famous coastline is clean and welcoming,” Teddy Browne of Cork County Council told West Cork Times.
