THE Carnegie Arts Centre in Kenmare hosted the launch of poet John W. Sexton’s new collection, The Offspring of the Moon, recently.

 

The poems in Sexton’s new collection speak to a tradition deeply rooted in the Irish literary imagination: from the oral tales and myths of pre-Christian times, through the gothic horrors of Sheridan Le Fanu and Bram Stoker, to the early science-fictiona romances of Fitz James O’Brien and M.P. Shiel.

Schull writer Alyn Fenn publishes first poetry collection

WRITER and artist Alyn Fenn from Schull will soon see her first collection of poetry in print with the publication of The Exit past the Chrysanthemums.

 

The book will be published in June by Finishing Line Press, an award winning American poetry publisher based in Kentucky.

Tuosist poet wins Hungry Hill Poetry Prize

West Cork carer is runner-up in national poetry competition

GAIA Charis from Castletownshend has been named runner up in the Family Carers’ second annual Caring for Carers Ireland poetry competition, the winners of which were announced at the Ennis Book Club Festival in County Clare during the weekend.

The nationwide poetry competition asked Family Carers to compose poems on the theme of springtime, representing renewal and new life.
