IN a sporting sense just the title brings a sense of drama, expectation and excitement and it rarely disappoints.
I have been a Lions supporter since I could understand what it meant, my father was a big fan, so from early days some of the first books I read were about the Lions exploits in New Zealand and South Africa. [Read more...]

WHILE looking at the racing at Chester last week, it struck me that this looked to be a very extraordinary racecourse, with the horses seemingly always on the turn throughout most races, and the draw being particularly advantageous in the sprint races to the horses drawn on the inside of the track.

A historic season in many ways draws to a close as the underage celebrate and the senior section regroup. In line with the determination to bounce back from the recent setback the season will not end on a low note, rather it will go out with a bang celebrating all the qualities and achievements of which Clonakilty can be justifiably proud.
The club is holding a Barbecue and Social Night in The Vale on this Saturday night May 11th to mark 35 great seasons of Clonakilty Rugby. The club is also delighted to announce that guest of honour for the evening is Munster and Ireland rugby player, Grand Slam winner Laura Guest. Festivities kick off at 9.00pm.

“I made a catastrophic error!”. This was the frantic response of the renowned trainer at the British end of the Godolphin Empire, which has its stable in the heartland of English racing, at Newmarket, an area which is commonly known in racing circles as “Headquarters”.
The Godolphin people have been racing from here for years, and it is mainly from here that the irrepressible Frankie Dettori used to operate when riding in England.

THERE was no disguising the sadness and the depths of depression suffered by the players of Clonakilty RFC and their supporters when their last onslaught foundered and the final whistle blew last Saturday in The Vale.
