THE sport of road trotting to the outsider may seem like a male dominated sport like many other equine events but 26-year-old Deirdre Goggin has dispelled that myth and to those of us who follow this unique sport see this popular Goleen native as one of the best riders on the circuit.
This year she enjoyed her best season to date amassing a total of 16 winners from a total on nine meetings and only lost out in the jockies championship by a single win.
Kids in Need Ireland is a new charity whereby 100% of the funds raised go to help children in Ireland who need specialist treatment abroad such as Lily Mae or Leah Taaffe.

“It was found in an antique shop in London by a collector who has moved up to the Hebrides,” said Rae.
“He passed it to my cousin who displays old articles in his tweed shop and I saw it there and thought I would try to trace it’s origins as a matter of interest.
THIS coming Easter, Casement ship author George AleXander Clayton will be back on the airwaves.

A handful of jazz lovers in Bandon who were tired of having to commute to Cork for live events have come together and created The Cotton Club, a jazz and blues club with monthly gigs in Bandon town.
One year ago, Roos Demol, a Flemish lady who lives in Kilbrittain, came up with the idea to create a jazz club in Bandon, after organising a charity concert, featuring the jazz vocalist Laoise O’Hanlon from Cork.
“I just thought that I was probably not the only one living in or around Bandon, who craved the live jazz music that I was used to going to when I was younger. CDs are ok, but nothing compares to a live jazz gig,” said Roos.
