SINCE the first batch came off the printers, organisers of Cork Rebel Week have been inundated with applications for the coveted Rebel Passport, with thousands of people from all over the globe vying to prove their “Corkness” and get their hands on one. RESIDENTS of Kenmare Community Hospital moved into their new home recently, a new 40 bed Hospital, built at a cost of €8 million replaces the existing 24 bed facility providing a much enhanced environment for residents, staff and visitors.

 

The new hospital is designed to provide residential care for people in the region as well as a wide range of community supports, including convalescent, respite and hospice care.

THE Make Your Mark on Cancer Walk is set to take place at 10am on Sunday 14th July 2013.

The 22km event is in aid of The Mercy Hospital Foundation, Cork, will take place between the Viaduct Pub on the Bandon Road, Cork, and the Town Hall, Bandon.

Family Fun Day in Barryroe

A Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday June 22nd from 1pm at Barryroe GAA pitch.

All are welcome to enjoy bouncy castles, athletics, pony rides, GAA skills, golf skills, go-cart races etc as well as a burger bar, shop and coffee stand. Organisers hope to be joined by the Coastguard helicopter during the day.

Celebrating 49 years as Secretary of Barryroe GAA, Paddy Murphy will cut the ribbon to officially open the beautifully refurbished playground adjacent to the GAA pitch on the day also. All welcome.

KINSALE Yacht Club celebrated the official re-opening of its renovated Clubhouse at a reception for members and guests.

 

The 14-week construction programme included the gutting and total re-build of all changing facilities on the ground floor, to include a new Reception/Office, first-class men and women’s changing facilities, laundry, cadet training room and gym. All mechanical and electrical services within the building were replaced and the Bar/Dining areas have been totally refurbished. Also, the extended balcony offers a magnificent view over the marina and has total wheelchair access with a new lift to the main entrance area.

The weekend following the bank holiday was yet another hectic one for the GalleyFlash. On Friday afternoon the senior pupils from Rathbarry NS visited the club to try out rowing as part of their PE class.

 

On arrival they were welcomed by Club Captain Danny Hayes and after getting safety instructions, they tested their skills on the rowing machines.
