Presented by Cork City Council, Glow, A Cork Christmas Celebration returns this weekend and sees Bishop Lucey Park and the Grand Parade transformed into a hive of activity with choirs, food traders, and elves.

Bishop Lucey Park reopens at 4.30pm on Friday where Santa’s Elves are making sure that everything is ready for the Big Day on December 25th. Stroll through the park and chat to the Elves as they wrap all the parcels, do quality control checks, get Santa’s sleigh ready and exercise the reindeers all under the guidance of Santa who is watching them from his special balcony in the Park.

Throughout the weekend beautiful choral singing will take place on the Grand Parade as choirs from all over Cork sing festive songs to raise money for charity. Friday sees performances from North Presentation Primary Choir, Cork City Musical Society and Choral Con Fusion while UkiDukes, St Nicholas Brass Band, Butter Exchange Brass Band, City of Cork Male Voice Choir and Cork Singers Collective will perform on the Grand Parade on Saturday. The choirs will be raising money for a diverse range of charities including Irish Lung Foundation, Bumbleance, Simon and Arc House.

Sunday is World Choral Day and to mark the occasion, Cork International Choral Festival are bringing together a great number of voices to GLOW. On Sunday afternoon several choirs will perform a host of much loved Christmas classics on the Grand Parade Stage.

The GLOW festival is going green again this Christmas and special green elves will be in Bishop Lucey Park and on the Grand Parade throughout the weekend advising the public on recycling and composting and to help people to choose the right bin.
