THERE were tears of joy, Yvonne Cahalane and son Tristan told Patricia as they celebrated being back home from America where Tristan received life changing treatment that is not available in Ireland.
Tristan suffers from a rare condition called Dravet Syndrome and was suffering several seizures every day as a result.
Last year his mum Yvonne took the decision to leave Dunmanway in West Cork with Tristan and head to Colorado in the USA where Tristan could be treated medically with Cannabis Oils.
Since moving his seizures have reduced considerable and now is three months seizure-free.
Yvonne’s husband John had to stay in Cork and continue in his job and Yvonne feels no family should have to make this decision and is campaigning for cannabis oils for medical use to be made legal in this country.
Now over a year later Yvonne has returned home to Ireland and to West Cork. The family were happily re-united as they joined Patricia Messinger on C103’s Cork Today show.
