Decision expected soon on Coachford College temporary accommodation application

Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West, Michael Moynihan has received confirmation from the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton that a decision on Coachford College’s application for temporary accommodation will be made shortly.

Deputy Moynihan was commenting after receiving a parliamentary reply from the Department that the college’s building project is included in its Six Year Construction Programme.

“While the college awaits a decision on the permanent building application, they have sought permission, and funding, for a temporary building to alleviate the current overcrowding at the college.

“Minister Bruton has informed me that the application for temporary accommodation is ‘currently under consideration and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities shortly.’

“This decision cannot come quick enough. The facilities at the college are too cramped as they are, and while we wait for the permanent building, temporary accommodation is needed now.

“I will continue to press the Minster for Education and Skills to deliver on both the temporary and permanent projects, but I do expect a decision on the temporary application in the near future,” concluded Moynihan.
