WEST Cork-based Minister of State at the Department of Health with special responsibility for Mental Health and Older People Jim Daly feels civil servants who have permanent jobs for life should be held accountable for their actions.
In light of what has come out in the last number of days regarding the Department of Justice, Minister Daly feels instead of a minister coming out of any political party to defend the health service etc. civil servants should also be held to account in public instead of a Minister taking the flack for them.
Minister Daly made his comments on C103’s Cork Today Show. He also said when setting up new projects within government you continuously have to follow up with civil servants to ensure action is taken on a particular project.
