IN 2015 the seaside village of Courtmacsherry in Cork lost its local shop when its doors closed following the owner retiring and the premises sold as a private dwelling.
Following this and with tourists visiting the area the local community decided to set up a cooperative to run a community shop.
After months of preparation and meetings the community shop did open in Courtmacsherry and is a success for locals and visitors.
It celebrates one year open this week as Dara Gannon told Patricia Messinger this morning on C103’s Cork Today Show.
