CORK Senator Tim Lombard is pleased to update Belgooly residents, and the wider Cork community, about the progress of the local Belgooly Water Scheme.
“Irish Water has confirmed to me that tender documents are being prepared for this scheme, following planning permission being granted for a new reservoir in Riverstick on December 19 last year.
“A number of elements, pertaining to property acquisition and ecological review, are currently being finalised. Pending a successful resolution of these issues it is expected that the tenders will be issued next month.
“Following the appointment of a contractor to carry out the works it is expected that works will commence in Q3, 2017.
“The water supply issues in and around Belgooly have been an ongoing and continual annoyance for the affected residents and businesses and theere have been numerous delays with this resolution scheme.
“It has been a lengthy process so I am hopeful that we will now see speedy progression of the scheme; resolution of the Belgooly water supply issues is long overdue.”
