“Another Way Of Seeing” Paintings by West Cork Artists Anastasia O’Donoghue Healy

Anastasia O'Donoghue Healy

As Louis le Brocquy said “painting is a secret logic of the imagination”. In self taught artist Anastasia’s attempt to explain her logic she says her paintings capture “Another Way of Seeing” which is informed as much by her journey to painting as by her growing interest in awareness consciousness and the writings of Eckhart Tolle. She paints her landscapes out in the landscape en plein air and when weather doesn’t permit her to do this she moves into the studio.

She says her paintings aspire to capture the “isness” of the landscape and the “isness” of the moment as she responds intuitively to her experience of it. She records this response to the landscape by her use of colour and mark making.

Anastasia believes participating in life drawing groups as often as she can brings a wealth of discipline and skill to her painting practice including, drawing, composition, using sensitivity/strength, using the intuitive/consciousness, the relationship between and value of the the pencil, the rubber and the paper and so much more. She is currently participating in artist Ian Humphrey’s life drawing group at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre.

The Annual Members Exhibition at The Lavit Gallery in which Anastasia is showing her work previews on Tuesday March 7th 5-7pm and continues until March 25th. Anastasia is also participating in a group show of local artists work in her local town of Clonakilty at The Loft Gallery and Frames.
